Watercolor is a versatile and exciting medium that can be used for sketching, plein air (outdoor) studies and finished work. The transparent nature of watercolor requires planning and practice with techniques and a variety of materials. With these building blocks you can begin to master the media and enjoy its fluid nature.

This course is suitable for beginning as well as experienced painters.  Some drawing experience is recommended but not required. Students will be exposed to a variety of approaches to watercolor, allowing for individual progress.

Learn to Draw

Do you love to draw or want to learn how? Learning to draw allows for exploration and recording of the world as you see it, as well as laying foundations for painting or design for other media. Instruction will include demonstrations, technique exercises, discussions of master examples, and more. Students will gain knowledge about how to draw what they see, transforming and simulating 3-Dimensional forms with line shape and value.

Back by popular demand! This 2-day workshop will see you creating eyes, nose, and mouth to attach to your favorite tree, showing its unique personality! ”Queen of the Forest”, SarahBeth Gagnon, will demonstrate a variety of techniques so that you may craft a unique visage for your backyard buddy. Tree faces will be constructed and underglazed during the workshop and will be clear glazed and fired by staff at Tucker Rec Arts. Completed work will be picked up at a later date. Some handbuilding experience is required. There will be a lunch break and students are encouraged to bring their lunch from home to maximize studio working time.
